Aerial
45 Points An android model produced by Manticore-Fortean, the Aerial is a humanoid androids that splices human genes with bat genes and synthetic genetic sequences to produce a human-variant that is capable of surviving in the cold temperatures of Ammonia worlds, which they were designed to explore and perhaps even settle. Their biochemistry is not ammonia-based, however, so they need to bring their own oxygen with them when they go into the wild, although they are capable of storing that oxygen in a modified liver in the event that run out of oxygen in their canister or container that they carry with them. Superficially, the Aerial looks like a humanoid bat with a long beak-like face. They lack eyes and thus can't see in the electromagnetic spectrum, but since most ammonia planets exist around dim red dwarfs and ammonia life doesn't generate much heat, negating the utility of Infravision, this isn't an issue. Instead, they navigate using sonar. Their wings emerge from their shoulders, and their bodies are covered in thick, rubbery black skin. This is necessary, since the concentrations of ammonia on these worlds can cause skin or eye irritation or, in worse case scenarios, blindness or burns. Engineers are currently attempting to produce a variant that is capable of breathing free hydrogen through use of a "reduction" technique that combines hydrogen with other organic molecules, but they haven't met with much success so far, with some questioning the utility of doing so (given hydrogen is flammable in oxygen environments, it would mean such entities couldn't live among humans without extreme caution). However, the hope is to produce entire aerial ecosystems that can thrive in ammonia gas giants, not just ammonia terrestrial worlds. Attribute Modifiers: ST-1 [-10]; HT+2 [20]. 74 Points The Alicanto is a bizarre android that was engineered by the San Candoval Republic before AOU took over, and AOU has simply allowed the production of the androids since, as they own the rights to the android's genotype. The Alicanto begins with predominately human DNA but it spices in DNA from a variety of different bird species and some wholly synthetic sequences, with the result being a wholly novel organism that looks like a Karura, but with a much longer neck, fewer eyes, and a more hunched posture and is barely 4 feet all. They have good vision, and while they're incapable of flight under normal gravity conditions, they can fly in zero-gravity conditions. Their brains are attuned to work in microgravity and freefall, technically making them a freefall android similar to the Clark, but they aren't engineered to survive the void. Their feet are very dexterous, functioning as a second set of limbs in microgravity. The most interesting thing about the Alicanto, however, is their ability to detect electromagnetic fields and metals specifically. This makes them skilled engineers and microgravity miners, which is what their original purpose was. Attribute Modifiers: ST -2 [-20]; DX +1 [20]; IQ -1 [-20]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: SM -1 [0]. Advantages: 3D Spatial Sense [10]; Acute Vision 4 (Accessibility; only to counteract glare and haze, -50%) [4]; Basic Biomods [9]; Detect (Electromagnetic Fields; Vague, -50%) [10]; Detect (Metals; Vague, -50%) [10]; Extra Arms 2 (Foot Manipulators, -30%; Short, -40%) [4]; Flight (Requires 0G, -50% ; Winged, -25%) [10]; Immunity to Disease [10]; Lifting ST +2 [6]; Night Vision 6 [6]; Ultravision [10]; Vibration Sense [10]. Perks: Feathers [1]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Workaholic [-5]. Quirks: Staid [-1]. Skills: Flight (A) HT [2]-10; Free Fall (A) DX [2]-11. Availability: $124,000. LC 3. Asfar
87 Points The Asfar are a type of android that are designed to survive on the surface of a chlorine planet. While there have been attempts to engineer a human genotype that could achieve something similar, those never pan out; the closest that humanity has is the Venusian Glider genotype, which is an unpopular genotype and doesn't do well when exposed to the heat and radiation of a chlorine world. So humanity took the step of employing android technology. Asfar are humanoid, but calling them human is a stretch. Their hairless skin is smooth and plasticky, with elongated heads and reptilian like hands. They don't have scales, contrary to the popular rumor, although their skin is often a yellowish-orange color with odd patterns that can make it look like they have scales from the distance. While they can survive on chlorine worlds, their engineering enables them to largely withstand almost any type of acid, so they can explore vitriolic worlds in addition to chlorine worlds. Finally, they feature a number of alterations to their respiratory and circulatory system that enables them to not only breath in but survive breathing in chlorine gas. However, this form of specialization makes it impossible to survive without chlorine, so like the Brahil in the Krabill Cluster, they wear breathing masks. They are also not very tolerant of cold temperature, since they are engineered to handle the high temperatures of a chlorine world. These androids are not very common, but owing to the large number of chlorine worlds in the Verge Consortium, they are more common there than anywhere else, and are the product of Manticore-Fortean Biotech. Attribute Modifiers: HT+2 [20]. Advantages: Basic Biomods [19]; Doesn't Breathe (Oxygen Storage, x100) [14]; DR 3 (Corrosion Only, -40%) [9]; Night Vision 9 [9]; Pressure Tolerance 1 [5]; Radiation Tolerance 10 [15]; Sealed (Acid Resistant, +40%) [21]; Temperature Tolerance (Hot) 10 [10]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Dependency (Chlorine Gas, Constantly, Mitigator, -60%) [-10]; Restricted Diet (Exotic Nutrients, Common) [-20]. Quirks: Temperature Intolerance (HT-1 to resist temperature effects at 45℉ or below) [-1]. Features: Chlorine-adapted physiology (see text). Availability: $127,000. LC 3. Ayah 127 Points
Despite life extension and advances in biomedicine, the rich and power still need individuals to look after them and their children once they hit a certain age, and this is where the Ayah, a product of NanoSysBio, comes in. Ayah are typically given pleasant but not particularly staggering looks, and are designed to function as live-in aids, au pairs, caregivers, in-home nurses, and the like for the powerful and wealthy. While they have a number of psychological modifications that make them talented when dealing with the elderly and with children, the major alterations to the Ayah are all sensory and focus on improving the Ayah's ability to monitor the state of their wards. Ayah have the same sense of smell as a bloodhound, the same sensitive touch as a raccoon, and the same discriminatory hearing as some species of birds. Their infrared vision lets them keep track on their ward's temperature and health, while their ears are modified to be sensitive to sound waves of a certain pitch, allowing them to produce ultrasonic images in their head to ensure that they can better handle any injury their wards might possess. Lastly, they are trained in reading body language, and can generally tell when their ward is not feeling well regardless what their ward might insist, and are frequently much stronger than they look, so they can help lift their ward if need be. While Ayah are frequently employed as the assistants to the wealthy, this isn't universally true. In the Regency, for instance, they not only find work in hospitals but in a variety of service sectors, generally focusing on education and early childhood. Meanwhile, more than one Ayah has discovered hose useful their abilities are as a detective, even if the genotype isn't violent by nature. Attribute Modifiers: IQ +1 [20]; HT +2 [20]. Advantages: Attractive (Humans Only, -20%) [3]; Basic Biomods [19]; Discriminatory Hearing [15]; Discriminatory Smell (Emotion Sense, +50%) [22]; Less Sleep 2 [4]; Lifting ST +3 [9]; Healer 1 [5]; Infravision [10]; Scanning Sense (Sonar, Reduced Range x1/10, -30%) [14]; Sensitive [5]; Sensitive Touch [10]; Ultrahearing [5]. Perks: Deep Sleeper; Good with Children; Good with the Elderly [3] Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Charitable (9) [-23]; Selfless (9) [-10]; Workaholic [-5]. Quirks: Attentive. [-1] Racial Skill Modifiers: +3 to Diagnosis [6]. Features: Taboo Traits (Aggressiveness; Mental Instability). Availability: $109,000. LC3. Busr-series 9 Points
The Busr-series is one of the few androids found in the Umma, and it's existence is a often seen as a crime by both its more progressive and conservative members. Designed by Banu Musa, one of the largest biotech firms in the Umma, the Busr circumvents a number of the structures that the Umma puts on androids by making the android look nothing like a human being; at short, round, and wrinkled, the Busr lives up to its name and looks like an unripen date. While it's technically sapient, it's only just, and so the Umma can skirt its own regulations. The Busr sees use where ever most other nations would employ a cybershell and an AI - which is to say, dangerous situations involving chemicals, munitions, biological agents, toxins, and the like. While they feature extensive modifications that allow them to survive exposure to these things, the environment Busrs are forced into is still an extremely dangerous one, and most have about five years of life before they die as a result of the things that they were exposed to. Given their selfless nature and their low intelligence, however, few realize this, and gladly make the sacrifice. Many of the more conservative members reject the Busr because it's an android, and androids are a violation of the spirit of the law, if not the letter, and would just as soon see all the Busr killed and another one never manufactured. The more progressive members reject it because it's slavery and forcing them to work in those environments is a crime against humanity. The leadership takes the classic centrist position that because it's angering both conservative and progressives, it's therefore doing something right, and continues to employ the androids in dangerous environments. The template below describes the standard issue Busr, the Busr Rayayis. The Bad Smell is a result of the way the model's metabolism processes dangerous toxins. Attribute Modifiers: ST+2 [20]; IQ-2 [-40] HT+2 [20]. Advantages: Breath-Holding 2 [4]; Damage Resistance 2 (Tough Skin, -40%) [6]; Discriminatory Smell [15]; Filter Lungs [5]; Lifting ST 3 [9]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Resistant to Disease (+8) [5]; Resistant to Poison (+3) [5]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Bad Smell [-10]; Monstrous [-20]; Selfless (9) [-7]. Features: Radical Transgenic Features (Green skin derived from rhinoceros hide; head set deep into the frame of the body; very large unblinking eyes); Sexless. Availability: $59,000. LC2. Models Busr "Khalida" (+19 Points): In an attempt to answer some of complaints leveled against the basic model by progressives, the Khalida is a version of the Busr that actually comes with Basic Biomods installed. This actually goes a lot further than one might think in extending their lives; so much so that the leadership of the Umma is thinking about shutting down production of the model lest the conservative clerics become angry. The Umma still uses them in dangerous conditions, however. Add Basic Biomods [19]. $73,000. LC1. 28 points Busr "Wakil" (+0 Points): The Wakil was an attempt to answer the conservative criticisms about the android by making it even less human looking; the Wakil adds another set of arms, with the four arms of the Busr arranged in an X-like pattern around the main torso, while reducing the overall IQ even further. The outcry from the progressive wing was loud, and the conservatives were not impressed either. Add Extra Limbs 2 [20] and IQ -1 [-20]. Busr ZW-2 "Hasif" (+20 Points): After failing to grasp the outcry with regards to either of the two versions, engineers recently rolled out the Hasif, which increases overall IQ to sapience level, allowing them to handle more dangerous tasks smartly. The life span has not increased, however. Banu Musa has not accepted any feedback on the model and considers anyone protesting irrational and impossible to please, just like the majority of the wealthy elite in the Umma who support Banu Musa. Add IQ+1 [20]. $79.000. LC2. 29 points Chronos 81 Points
The Chronos is quite clearly a combat ready model, and is designed for unsupported patrol and counter-insurgency - and in more than a few areas, as terror weapons. They are optimized for tracking and spotting enemies, and for reacting to ambushes by shifting into a biological overdrive that leaves them fatigued. Appearance wise, they tend to be lean and muscular, with canine-like muzzles and sharp teeth, but with mouse ears and eyes. Their bodies are often covered in short gray fur, and their tissues include transgenic material from humans, rodents, sharks, and canines, while their metabolisms have been altered to allow them to survive off the land and respond well to emergency medical conditions. Making the whole thing work together is a minor miracle of engineering, and since it's primarily a military design, the compromises that give it a shortened lifespan are not seen as a particular disadvantage. Still, many people that are involved in android manufacture regard their existence - even the rumors of their existence - as one of the worst memetic issues that they face. After all, it's hard to argue against accusations of "making monsters" when the Chronos is clearly that. The first company to produce the Chronos remains unknown. There are a number of conspiracy theories that connect the company back to Austrin-Ontis, although the extinct Thuldan Imperial Biomed (a formerly independent company that has since been folded into the Aquila Imperium on Alitare) are also implicated. Curiously, while information regarding the Chronos has shown up on the Australis Union web, very few Chronos soliders have been seen fighting along side the AU forces. Apparently, the AU Director of Defense, has come to the conclusion they can score stronger memetic victories by not employing the Chronos than they can by using them. Attribute Modifiers: ST+2 [20]; DX+1 [20]; IQ-1 [-20]; HT+1 [10]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: Per+2 [10]; FP+3 [9]; Basic Speed+1.00 (Costs Fatigue, 2 FP, -10%) [18]. Advantages: Acute Hearing 2 [4]; Basic Biomods [19]; Combat Reflexes [15]; Discriminatory Smell [15]; Fangs [2]; High Pain Threshold [10]; Single-Minded [5]; Reduced Consumption 2 (Cast-Iron Stomach, -50%) [2]; Very Rapid Healing [15]. Perks: Fur. [1] Disadvantages: Bioroid Body [-4]; Bloodlust (12) [-10]; Disturbing Voice [-10]; Low Empathy [-20]; Self-Destruct [-10]; Short Lifespan 2 [-20]. Features: Multiple transgenic features (see description) Availability: $59,000. LC0. Clark-series 28 Points
VoidCorp's Clark-series are one of the most characteristic zero-g and free fall androids in the Verge and Bleed; almost everyone familiar with the InVids associates the hairless android with the skin that changes color under different lighting with space travel and the vacuum. VoidCorp owns sole rights to the tall androids as well, although they were originally the design of a company called Biomax Designs for the precursor company that would become VoidCorp. The company has held onto the IP ever since, and now the Clark-series are as synonymous with VoidCorp as the Sesheyan are. Over the centuries VoidCorp has done little to edit the model series, only occasionally update the immune system or cellular repair mechanisms when new biomedical information became available. Above all else, VoidCorp's operating principle with the Clark-series has been "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." While the Clark-series are owned by VoidCorp as a whole, individuals are not. Most choose to work for VoidCorp, however, since that's where their friends are and most have a debt that they have to work off for being created, but once they work that debt off they are free to leave the company if they wish. Few choose to due to impracticalities and what one, but some do just to see the greater galaxy. Most companies in competition know better than the sign on a Clark-series vacuum worker, given their synonymous reputation with VoidCorp, so most Clark-series find their way back to VoidCorp eventually. The template below represents the Clark-1 vacuum worker, and has augmentations that allow it to function in a vacuum unassisted for up to an hour. Often, they work with Void Flyers that VoidCorp has the rights to produce. Attribute Modifiers: ST-2 [-20]. Advantages: 3D Spatial Sense [10]; Basic Biomods [19]; DR 1 (Tough Skin, -40%) [3]; Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x25, -50%) [10]; Extra Arms 2 (Foot Manipulators, -30%; Short, -50%) [4]; Lifting ST 1 [3]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Radiation Tolerance 5 [10]; Telecommunication (Radio; Reduced Range 1/10, -30%; Temporary Disadvantage, Electrical, -20%) [5]; Temperature Tolerance 10 [10]; Vacuum Support [5]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Restricted Diet (Special/unusual nutrients; Occasional) [-30]. Quirks: Thin Frame [-1] Racial Skill Bonuses: +1 to Breath Control [2]; +1 to Free Fall [2]. Features: Home gravity of 0 G; Slick, hairless skin that changes color in different lighting levels. Availability: $79,000. LC3. Models Clark-2 (+20 Points): The Clark-1 is so reliable that VoidCorp hasn't changed it in the over a century that VoidCorp has been using it to do vacuum work. However, with the release of the Salamander, VoidCorp executives decided to see if they could incorporate a thrusting mechanism into the Clark-series, and the result was the Clark-2, which has its own inbuilt thruster system enabling it to jet around in the void. Add Flight (Newtonian Space Flight, +25%; Space Flight Only, -75%) [20]. $99,000. LC3. 44 points. Clark-3 (+4 Points): The Clark-3 is an alteration on the Clark-1 that can store a bit more oxygen in its tank, allowing it to operate for a bit longer. As with the Clark-2, this is a recent model, mostly because VoidCorp doesn't involve itself in biotech all that much. Improve to Doesn't Breath (Oxygen Storage, x100, -30%) [14]. $82,000. LC3. 25 points Contemplative
68 Points An android employed by the Grey culture, the Contemplatives are a bizarre little construct roughly 1/3rd the size of a human that are incapable of functioning inside of a gravity well. Vaguely humanoid, they have a small, insect-like body with a huge head. While the head is designed to look like a brain, their brain is actually their entire body an the head is only designed to look as such for aesthetic purposes. Every inch of their nervous system is devoted to problem solving and computation, and so they tend to have poor hearing and no sense of smell or taste; Greys prioritized sight. The Greys programmed cellular apoptosis into the design, so most make it to 25 years old, at which point the apoptosis kicks in and they die quickly and painlessly. The Greys do this so they can recycle the materials and grow new Contemplatives for different purposes. Contemplatives tend to follow Greys around when Greys are in microgravity, hovering around them like cherubs. They usually mesh into the Grey's PAN, working with the Grey to solve whatever problem the Grey is working on at the time. Contemplatives that are grown and produced in Grey fleets tend to be slavishly devoted to Greys; this is a feature of acculturation. Those grown outside of Grey communities tend to more free spirited. Attribute Modifiers: ST-4 [-40]; IQ +2 [60]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: SM -2. Advantages: 365-Degree Vision [25]; Flight (Costs Fatigue, 4FP, -20%; Requires 0G, -50%) [12]; Basic Biomods [19]; Basic Cybermods [24]; Intuitive Mathematician [5]; Language Talent [10]; Mathematical Ability 1 [10]; Photographic Memory [10]; Versatile [5], and 10 points in any additional Talent. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Curious (16) [-2]; Hard of Hearing [-10]; Mute (Mitigator (computer interpreter), -60%) [-10]; No Sense of Smell or Taste [-5]; No Legs (Aerial) [0]; Self-Destruct [-10]; Short Lifespan 1 [-10]; Slave Mentality (In the Presence of a Grey Only, -75%) [-10]. Quirks: Attentive [-1]. Features: Home gravity 0 G; Radical Transgenic Features (see above); Sexless. Availability: $118,000. LC3. Eros-series 28 Points
One of the first uses for synthetic humans was in the sex industry, and that remains one of their most popular uses even to this day. There are countless variants throughout the Verge and Bleed serving in everything from seedy red-light districts to upscale courtesans for hire, but they all tend to descend from the same basic model line, and that model line is the Eros-series developed first by Zhejiang Bioscience. The first few Eros generations were modeled strongly after baseline humans, but with the ability to self-replicate removed; this is why the individuals in the Marajian Republic were able to reverse engineer this reproductive nature back into the genotype. After Zhejiang went out of business, a dozen or so knock-offs were propagated by different companies until the license fell into the hands Skinthetic, who have adapted it and spread it throughout the Verge and Bleed. The Eros-series features a number of glandular modifications, as well as joint-work and brain modifications, that ensure they're always fit for their job and always happy to do so. The model below is the basic Paramour model. As an interesting note, actors who have a no-nudity clause in their contracts often have a Courtesan-model Eros designed to look close enough like them that computer editing can fix the rest; this Eros handles all of the major sex scenes, nude scenes, and the like during filming and are functionally body-doubles. Whether they get paid depends on the studio in question. Attribute Modifiers: ST-1 [-10]; HT+1 [10]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: FP +1 [3]. Advantages: Basic Biomods [19]; Double-Jointed [15]; Very Handsome/Beautiful (Humans Only, -20%) [13]; Voice [10]. Perks: Alcohol Tolerance; Deep Sleeper [2]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Chummy [-5]; Impulsiveness (12) [-10]; Lecherousness (12) [-15]. Quirks: Attentive; Distinctive Feature (Exaggerated sexual characteristics) [-2]. Racial Skill Modifiers: +1 to Erotic Art [2]. Features: Taboo Traits (Genetic Defects; Unattractiveness). Availability: $81,000. LC3. Models: Eros "Courtesan" (+8 Points): The courtesan is designed for upper class individuals; they often attend dinners, galas, and the like, and are not exclusively used the sex industry, sometimes crossing over into the InVid industry. Increase the self-control number on Lecherousness to (16) [-7]. $89,000. LC3. 36 points. Eros Cybercore (+21 points): While the Eros isn't a popular cybercore option, for those who want a body that isn't a pod and are willing to take what they can get, it isn't the worse. Many complain about the glandular modifications, however. Delete Android Body [+4], Chummy [+5], increase the self-control roll to 16 on Impulsiveness [+5] and Lecherousness [+7], and add Cybercore [0]. $102,000. LC3. 49 points. Eros "Fugu" (+17 points): The Fugu is an impressive model that comes with saliva and bodily fluids that secret a powerful drug, capable of driving individuals into ecstasy. Add Ecstasy Glands [17]. $99, 000. LC2. 46 points Eros "Furry" (+4 Points): A popular variant of the Eros, the furry comes big eyes, soft fur, and either cat, fox, or rabbit ears, but lacks dangerous animalistic features such as claws or sharp teeth. Add Acute Hearing +1 [2], Fur [1], Night Vision 1 [1], and Distinctive Features [1]. $85,000. LC3. 32 points Eros "Gothic" (+14 Points): A vampire poser model with a metabolism that is specially designed to release endorphins when it drinks any quanitty of blood other than its own. It also has retractable fangs, and can enter into a death-like trance. Add Distinctive Features [-1], Less Sleep 1 [2], Metabolism Control 1 [10], Night Vision 2 [2], Sharp Teeth (switchable, +10%) [2], and Minor Addiction (Blood) [-1]. $95,000. LC3. 52 points Eros "Pro" (-28 Points): The Eros "Pro" tends to find work in lower-class districts, and in mid-tier red light districts, especially those that see a lot of traffic. The "Pro" is generally considered to be ethically questionable and only appears in areas with loose ethical standards. Add Acute Taste and Smell +2 [4]; Addiction (Sex; Expensive, Highly Addictive) [-15], Breath-Holding 4 [8], Low Self-Esteem [-10], and decrease the self-control rating on Lecherousness to (6) [-30]. $53,000. LC2 . 3 point. Februus-series 48 Points
The Februus-series of androids is produced by NanoSynBio Corporation first during the Second Interstellar Period, and then to help clean up the aftermath of the Swarms. The model line is designed to operate in hostile and hazardous environments, which makes them ideal for cleaning up some of the more dangerous places in the Verge and Bleed. The model features a highly modified metabolism that can resist ingested poison, lungs that can filter out particulate, and cells that can repair damage done by exposure to radiation, and all that is before one considers the Basic Biomods that also come standard. With their discriminatory taste and smell, they can detect different chemicals and remember what those chemicals were, and their plastic-like skin offers them protection against fluids and chemicals that might spill on their bodies. On the other side, the model is not remotely attractive conventionally, with rubbery, plastic-looking bright orange or lemon yellow skin, and with strong muscles around the face and nose. NSB Corp licenses out the most popular variant of this android type, below, to various parts of the Verge and Bleed that are still doing relief effort from the Swarms, or are still left picking through the wreckage more than 100 years later. They also make good techs for radioactive facilities, and frequently find work as rescue professionals, with their very visible appearance making them stand out deliberately. Attribute Modifiers: HT+2 [20]. Advantages: Basic Biomods [19]; Discriminatory Smell [15]; Discriminatory Taste [10]; DR 2 (Flexible, -20%) [8]; Filter Lungs [5]; Lifting ST +2 [6]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Regeneration (Slow, Radiation Only, -60%) [4]; Resistant to Ingested Poison (+8) [5] Disadvantages: Android Body [-4], Selfless (12) [-5]; Unattractive (Non-Februus only, -20%) [-3]. Features: Multiple transgenic features (see text). Availability: $98,000. LC3. Models Februus "Chernobog" (+7 Points): The Chernobog has a metabolism adapted to high temperatures, often able to withstand superheated temperatures for a short period of time, and are often seen accompanying fire-fighters as they go into burning buildings. Their skin is often a vivid red or orange coloration, to make them easier to see when they're rescuing individuals. The filter lungs keep them from dying from smoke inhalation. Add Resistance to Heat Stroke (+8) [2] and Temperature Tolerance (Hot) 5 [5]. $104,000. LC3. 50 points Februus "Pluto" (+11 Points): The Pluto features adaptations for extreme cold; while they aren't surviving on Titan, they can wander into frigid arctic wastes with minimal support, or hand sudden changes in weather that might bring such temperatures on. Their fur is often a bright yellow or orange color, to help them stand out. Add Fur [1] and Temperature Tolerance (Cold) 10 [10]. $108,000. LC3. 54 points Gillmorph 342 Points
Despite its name, the Gillmorph does not use gills; it is a radical non-human android design that makes use primarily of Orca gene-stock. A design out of the android manufacturer Ecowave-Symphonia, the general morphology of the android is that of a scaled down orca, but with two human-like arms and six tentacles that emerge from the underside of the body that provide it with manipulators. It has multiple eyes all around the head, providing it with full vision all the way around the body. The Disturbing Voice is the result of the high pitch staccato of cetacean whistles and clicks that it uses to accent its speech. The Gillmorph is a very distinctive design, and while it's not common, it is the design that put Ecowave-Symphonia on the map and the one that everyone knows ES for. They license the right to make the design mostly to governments and large corporations that operate on water worlds, where such creatures are best suited. Attribute Modifiers: ST+17 (Size, -20%) [136]; DX+1 [20]; IQ-1 [-20]; HT+3 [30]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: SM +2; Per+2 [10]. Advantages: 360° Vision [25]; Acute Hearing 2 [4]; Basic Biomods [9]; DR 1 (Tough Skin, -40%) [3]; Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x200, -20%) [16]; Enhanced Move 1 (Water; Temporary Disadvantage, No Manipulators, -50%) [10]; Enhanced Tracking 3 [15]; Extra Arms 6 (Extra-Flexible, +50%; No Physical Attack, -50%; Temporary Disadvantage, Bad Grip 2, -10%) [54]; Immunity to Disease [10]; Injury Tolerance (No Neck) [5]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Pressure Support 2 [10]; Scanning Sense (Sonar; Reduced Range 1/5, -20%) [16]; Sharp Teeth [1]; Temperature Tolerance 1 [1]; Ultrasonic Speech [10]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Disturbing Voice [-10]; Increased Life Support (Massive) [-10]; No Legs (Aquatic) [0]. Features: Sexless. Availability: $402,000. LC3. Delete Android Body [+4] and add Cybercore [0]. $406,000; LC3. 356 points Gillmorph Pod (-10 points): A much more common variation, the Gillmorph pod is a recent adaptation of the Gillmoprh in pod form. Delete Android Body [+4] and add Pod Body [-4] and Social Stigma (Pod) [-10]. $392,000. LC3. 342 points Houri-series 29 Points
Another model by Banu Musa, the Houri is an always female android pleasure model in the same vein as the Eros that has met with some minor success. Banu Musa markets them through a subsidiary company co-owned by Skinthetic on many major worlds called Alseada; in the Regency it goes by the Bluefall-specific name of Felicidade. While they are primarily sex dolls no different from the Eros, the design is different enough that they can be marketed as a distinctive entity, and Skinthetic is always happy to gain access to a new pleasure doll design. Within the Umma, the Houri-series are usually constrained to the homes of the wealthy elite and powerful that they're designed for. Houri "servant girls" are common within the castle-like manors of the super-wealthy Sunni sheiks and emirs that fund the Umma and act as the oligarchic leadership that cuts the checks necessary to fund the theocracy. They are also common in the houses of the mid-tier Christian leadership. Since they are so common among the elites and the leadership, all but the most strident Islamic clerics (most of them Shiite, with their criticisms also motivated by religious disagreement with the predominately Sunni leadership and their "greedy Christian lapdogs") tend to find they're very flexible on the android ban in this one specific instance, and prefer instead to focus on the much more visible Busr. As one can imagine, this creates a very dangerous environment for the Houri, since they are effectively property, and anyone escaping from the house they were bought buy can be killed and nobody will care. Those who escape are frequently hunted by the houses they escaped from (effectively possessing an Enemy), and so frequently have Secrets as well. Models Houri "Scheherazade" (+48 Points): A much more advanced model, only available in the Umma, intended to be a private companion. The Scheherazade model is much smarter than the basic Houri, but this comes at the cost of recognizing the condition that they're in. Most also have Passing Appearance, so they can't be detected as an android, but not all. Delete the IQ penalty [+20], upgrade appearance to Very Beautiful (Humans Only, -20%) [13] and add Eidetic Memory [5] and Voice [10]. $147,000. LC2. 77 points Karura 97 Points
A design out of BlueGenomics that is found almost exclusively on Bluefall but has started appearing elsewhere around the Regency, the Karura is a decidedly non-human humanoid android and is the first in a line of planned androids that BlueGenomics was contracted to produce for the Regency. Like most things produced on Bluefall, the Karura was engineered to help with the terraforming effort, but the Regency wanted something that not-human while still human enough. The result was the Karura. Karura stand about six-feet tall on average and can generously be described as humanoid parrots, although they are much more alien than that. Their feathers are generally brightly colored so they won't get lost in the forests on Bluefall, where they do most of their work, usually featuring blues, greens, yellows, reds, oranges, blacks, and the like. Their posture is digitigrade, and they feature four long antenna-like feathers that hang from their face. Four eyes frame each side of their small beak, while their feathered wing-arms end in full manipulators. Karura are stronger than they look, and contrary to popular belief, they are not designed to fly; their shoulder joints are engineered so that they can rotate freely, allowing the Karura to brachiate through through the canopy like a large feathered orangutan. Their feathered antenna detect movement around them, while their eyes shift between infrared and visual easily. The series is extremely useful for getting through the dense forest to get to various terraforming stations, as well as tracking animals with their infravision. They are all engineered to have a high degree of botanical competency, and are generally talented eco-techs. Most Karura work for the Bluefall Serviço do Parque Nacional as government employees, while a small number find employment in the private sector. The genotype hasn't spread to far from Bluefall - yet - but it has a number of adaptations that could make it valuable elsewhere in the Verge and Bleed. Nemo-series 90 Points
The Nemo-series is the first major series by Ecowave-Symphonia following the rollout of their Gillmorph a half-decade ago. These are very new androids, with the oldest barely pushing 6 years old, but Ecowave-Symphonia played it safe and copied many of the genetics native to the Selkie and the result is an android that is very similar to a Selkie, can operate in much the same environments, and is augmented so it resists the problems associated with inhaled toxins and gas narcosis. The Nemo-series are the first in a line of potential aquatic androids that ES wants to roll out to compliment the Gillmorph, letting them corner a relatively untapped market for aquatic androids in many corners of the Verge and Bleed. The Nemo looks like the Selkie; the skin is black and white with no hair on their head or body, along with webbed fingers and toes. While not designed to look attractive - they're workers and ES is not Skinthetic - they don't look as alien as the Selkie can sometimes look, either, and so it isn't unusual for a Nemo to have a few levels of Appearance appended by Humans Only (-20%). Attribute Modifiers: ST+1 [10]; HT+2 [20]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: HP+1 [2]. Advantages: Amphibious [10]; Basic Biomods [19]; Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x50, -40%) [12]; Enhanced Move 1/2 (Water) [10]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Pressure Support 1 [5]; Resistant to Gaseous/Inhaled Poisons (+3) [3]; Temperature Tolerance 1 [1]. Perks: Immunity to Gas Narcosis. [1] Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]. Features: Aquatic Adaptations (Smooth mottled gray or black skin; webbed fingers and toes); Unaffected by SAD. Availability: $140,000. Models Nemo "Odysseus" (-16 Points): The Odysseus is the next leap that ES plans to take with the Nemo, and that's to give it gills like the Triton. However, this design is still experimental, and while they are using the Triton as a guide, that means the Odysseus suffers from all the flaws of the Triton - and then some from compromises that designers made and that have yet to be discovered. Known problems include heat loss caused by the gills, which means they require warm oceans (between 72° to 90°F) and a weakness to the wrong salinity, as per the Triton. There may be other problems, as well. Any Odysseus encountered in the wild is likely to be at year old at maximum and is either a trial run or an escapee. Add (Gills, -50%; Maximum Duration, 20 minutes, -25%) [5], Weakness (Immersion in water of “wrong” salinity, Common; 1d per 5 minutes) [-20], and the quirk Very temperature sensitive when in water [-1]. Not Available; LC0 effectively. 74 points Rodosha
51 Points The Rodosha is the intellectual property Ono-Sendai Group. The android subtype emerged in Japan sometime during the Interplanetary Period to meet Japan's labor shortages, and it was from there that the Rodosha spread out. When the company in Japan sold the rights, they sold it to a company that would eventually become a member of the Ono-Sendai Group, and as a result, Ono-Sendai owns the rights to manufacture and produce this worker android. Rodosha look like normal humans, but with bland facial expressions and non-threatening body language. A big change is that they are all bald and they have blue-tinged skin, while their fingers are delicate and long but not freakishly so, and their movements are slow and deliberate. They are almost always male, and they are almost always East Asian in phenotype, although that isn't always a guarantee. Engineers intended for them to be deft, robust, and alert, with improved senses, although the subsonic hearing was a happy accident. Attribute Modifiers: DX+1 [20]; HT+1 [10]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: HP+2 [4]; Per+2 [10]; FP+2 [6]; Basic Speed-0.25 [-5]. Advantages: High Manual Dexterity 2 [10]; Lifting ST 2 [6]; Night Vision 2 [2]; Resistant to Disease (+3) [3]; Subsonic Hearing [5]. Perks: Deep Sleeper. [1] Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Gregarious [-10]; Workaholic [-5]. Quirks: Attentive; Humble. [-2] Features: Bald with blue-tinged skin; Closely resembles others of the same “model”; Taboo Traits (Mental Instability). Availability: $101,000. LC3. Sage
63 Points The Sage was the first attempt by the subculture of Ilmarinen to try and produce an intelligent subspecies of humanity - in this case, a super-intelligent android. To achieve this goal, engineers had to tinker with the neurochemistry of the brain, and began by augmenting the intelligence of a typical Bouncer-derived android. However, engineers in the autonomous collective sorely underestimated how hard it would be to engineer a super-intelligent android; since the brain structures of an android are fast-growing, and knock-on effects manifest much earlier and lead to cascading failures before engineers have a chance to fully adapt, few companies have ever made the attempt. The autonomists of Ilmarinen aren't the first, but the Sage is the most successful. Outwardly the Sage resembles a typical bouncer, although they are always bald and they have slight, slender fingers and high foreheads; often they have blue or green skin with colorful designs on them to distinguish them. Unlike most instances where individuals have tried to increase intelligence in androids the Sage seems remarkably well-balanced (especially considering how the Hypberbright turned out), but they have problems of their own. They tend to be highly impulsive and don't think things through, and their overall physiology is weak and they tend to have poor health eve after accounting for basic biomods. Despite this, they took some mental modifications better than the Hyperbright did, with much better memories, although their brain and their mouths don't necessarily synch up, which leads to distinctive, repetitious speech patterns that resemble palilalia (repeating the same thing they said previously several times). Attribute Modifiers: ST-1 [-10]; DX -1 [-20]; IQ +3 [60]. Advantages: 3D Spatial Sense [10]; Attractive (Humans Only, -20%) [3]; Basic Biomods [19]; Eidetic Memory [5]; Extra Arms (two, Foot Manipulators -30%, Short -50%) [4]; Longevity [2]; Radiation Tolerance 5 [10]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Impulsiveness (12) [-10]; Light Sleeper [-5]; Unfit [-5]. Quirk: Distinctive Speech Patterns; Thin Frame [-2]. Racial Skill Bonuses: +3 to Free Fall [6]. Features: Home gravity of 0.7 G. Height is typically up to 1’ greater than normal for ST, but weight is 75% of normal. Salamander-series 82 Points
One of the most extreme android types to appear in recent decades, the Salamander-series is designed by NanoSynBio, the same company who make the Februus-series android, another android designed to operate in extreme conditions. However, the Salamander outstrips even the Februus in terms of environments that it can operate in - although it does so at a significant cost. The Salamander is designed to operate not only in microgravity conditions, but also in solar corona conditions. While not remotely optimized for such conditions, the Salamander can do short stints exposed to the corona, making it useful for solar habitation. The Salamander can pull this trick off because of an internal superconductor loop that, when active, creates a magnetic field around the Salamander. This field absorbs a high amount of radiation and protects the Salamander from small amounts of solar plasma - although a direct hit from even a weak solar flare will fry any Salamander unfortunate enough to be caught outside and a full-on CME will likely leave nothing, not even ashes. While the field is active they are effectively in a self-produced Faraday cage, protected from solar charged particles. They store oxygen in their blood and liver like most vacuum workers do, and their feet have been modified into additional hands. Salamanders are particularly common in coronal habitats, but they can function outside of them. One of the most interesting features about this android type, aside from the extreme coronal adaptations, is the polykeratin vacuum adaptation; this is a relatively new advancement by several biomedical firms, and it allows the Salamander turn their face into a mouthless, noseless helmet, while all of the other external orifices close, as well, effectively sealing them off from space. They can undo this as they wish. They also feature in-built thrusters, so they can jet around in space as they wish. Despite what their designed for, the engineers outstripped their design chops a bit with this series. Not only does it require specialized exotic nutrients to subsist, it cannot see in the dark (which the engineers never even knew was a problem until one left the coronal environment aboard a ship and discovered they couldn't see), and they require weekly maintenance to replace or regrow damaged tissue caused by the presence of the superconducting loop. What's more, their nervous system is a big strong, so they have a very low tolerance for pain. Attribute Modifiers: ST-2 [-20]. Advantages: 3D Spatial Sense [10]; Basic Biomods [19]; DR 10 (Force Field, +10%; Limited, Plasma Only, -40%; Linked, Radiation Tolerance, +10%) [40]; DR 1 (Tough Skin, -40%) [3]; Detect (Electromagnetic Fields [20]; Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x50, -40%) [12]; Extra Arms 2 (Foot Manipulators, -30%; Short, -50%) [4]; Flight (Newtonian Space Flight, +25%; Space Flight Only, -75%) [20]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Radiation Tolerance 20 (Force Field, +10%; Linked, DR, +10%) [24]; Temperature Tolerance (Hot) 20 [20]; Vacuum Support (Switchable, +10%) [6]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; G-Intolerance (0.05 G increment) [-20]; Low Pain Tolerance [-10]; Maintenance (2 people, Bioengineering (Biogadgets or Tissue Engineering); Weekly) [-10]; Night Blindness [-10]; Restricted Diet (Exotic Nutrients, Common) [-20]; Workaholic [-5]. Racial Skills: Free Fall (A) DX+1 [4]. Features: Home gravity of 0 G; Taboo Traits (Mental Instability); Vacuum-adapted physiology (Smooth, reddish orange skin with ) Availability: $101,000. LC3. Models Salamander Mk 0 (-14 Points): The template above is for the Salamander-series Mark 1, but there was a prototype. The Mark Zero wasn't designed purely with coronal habitats in mind, and it lacks the super-conducting loop, so it can't remotely survive in plasma fields. However, it does still have the impressive tolerance for heat, along with fewer problems than the Mark 1 in the series has, which makes it a popular model for some Spacer crews. Delete DR 10 [-40], Radiation Tolerance 20 [-24], Low Pain Tolerance [+10], Maintenance [+10], and Restricted Diet [+20]. Add Radiation Tolerance 5 [10]. $87,000. LC3. 68 points. Sea Wolf-series 122 Points
One of the many combat androids that Praxis puts on the market, the Sea Wolf won't be winning awards for its appearance, but it isn't designed to. Most humans tend to find something vaguely unsettling about the android, which strongly resembles a Selkie but has a much-more canine-like visage, giving it the appearance of a humanoid orca with a dog face. Sea Wolfs are frequently employed by the various independent and contract navies of the Verge and Bleed, and so it isn't unusual to encounter one that left its unit for green grass. They have no preferred temperature range and so can be comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. While Praxis licenses the model out to various sources, the vast majority work for the Australis Union Naval Forces. Attribute Modifiers: ST+1 [10]; DX+2 [40]; HT+1 [10]. Advantages: Acute Taste and Smell 2 [4]; Acute Vision 1 [2]; Amphibious [10]; Basic Biomods [19]; Combat Reflexes [15]; Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x50, -40%) [12]; Enhanced Move 1/2 (Water) [5]; Fit [5]; Night Vision 5 [5]; Pressure Support 2 [10]; Temperature Tolerance 2 [2]; Versatile [5]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Unattractive (Non-Sea Wolfs Only, -20%) [-3]; Workaholic [-5]. Features: Aquatic Adaptations (Rubbery black skin; very light fur; webbed fingers); Unaffected by SAD. Availability: $192,000. LC1. Models Sea Dog (-35 Points): Where the Sea Wolf is a combat model, the Sea Dog is a civilian model. They are similar to the Sea Wolf but are less prepared for combat, and instead are usually found competing with the Ecowave-Symphonia's Nemo in a relatively under-developed oceanic android market place. Reduce DX to DX +1 [-20] and delete Combat Reflexes [-15]. $157,000. LC3. 87 points Shabti-series 83 Points
The Shabti is a design from NanoSysBio designed to operate in desert and dry conditions. In many ways, they're similar to the Drylander, but there are a numbe rof noticeable differences when the two are compared. Like the Drylander, the Shabti has a metabolism designed for handling windblown dust and to reduce water, but where the basic Drylander is comfortable with a mainly nocturnal existence, the Shabti is designed to operate during the day. Shabti resemble humans with reptilian features about their face and head, but typically with black hair and cat-like whiskers around their noses and faces. Their ears are similarly catlike, with the ability to twist to focus in on strange noises. Their bodies are covered in interlocking desert-colored scales, which protect their skin from the harsh UV radiation and from damage due to dust. Like the Nomad, they have filter lungs, which allows them to breathe in sandstorms, and a nictitating membrane which allows them to see, although the Shabti lacks a tail. While they have very good night vision, Shabti prefer to be active during the day, where they engage in much of their activities helping combat desertification or engaging in the terraforming or settling of desert worlds. The parahuman type is generally localized to certain worlds and systems, but the reputation of the android is enough to land it on this list. Attribute Modifiers: HT +2 [20] Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: Per +1 [5]. Advantages: Acute Hearing +2 [4]; Basic Biomods [19]; DR 2 (Flexible, -20%) [6]; Filter Lungs [5]; Green Thumb 1 [5]; Lifting ST +3 [9]; Nictitating Membrane 2 [2]; Night Vision 5 [5]; Reduced Consumption 2 (Water Only, -50%) [2]; Parabolic Hearing 2 [8]; Temperature Tolerance (Hot) 3 [3]; Vibration Sense (Air) [10]. Perks: Scales [1]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Chummy [-5]; Workaholic [-5]. Quirks: Attentive. [-1] Features: Taboo Traits (Mental Instability). Availability: $133,000. LC3. Models Imhotep (+15 Points): The Imhotep is a design by NSB to produce a Shabti that is best fit for engineering. Imhoteps tend to be exceedingly good at math, and have traits and undergo deep learning that encourages this, since they often lead teams of Shabti on various large-scale projects. Add Intuitive Mathematician [5] and Mathematical Ability 1 [10]. $148,000. LC3. 98 points Spartan-series 60 Points
The Spartan-series is one of the best known designs out of Praxis, a company in the Australis Union. Praxis designed the Spartan for combat primarily, and most Spartans feature muscle augmentation, a well as a boosted skeleton, that allows them to carry around crewed heavy weapons and fire them as if they were personal firearms. From a design perspective the shortened lifespan is not seen as a draw back, since it reflects on the idea that there isn't much needed for combat units to be long-lived, and is also the result of the toll that the increased strength takes on the overall metabolic health of the unit, wearing pieces down much faster than they do for a normal android. The model below is the most reliable model out of Praxis, the Spartan (the series is named after the model). There are other niche models that exist within the series, but the Spartan remains the best known. Attribute Modifiers: ST+3 [30]; HT+1 [10]. Advantages: Combat Reflexes [15]; High Pain Threshold [10]; Lifting ST 3 [9]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Short Lifespan 1 [-10]. Availability: $101,000. LC2. Models Fury (+9 Points): Praxis designed the Fury as a test case. Furies are almost always female, and feature gene-sequences borrowed from pack animals, allowing them to work better in groups. Unlike the conventional Spartan, the Fury isn't as strong, which is good for their metabolism. They are exceptionally quick, borrowing the overdrive mechanism from the Chronos. Since they aren't a pure combat unit, Praxis sometimes uses the Fury for policing in the Australis Union. Reduce ST to ST +2 [-10]. Add Basic Speed +1.00 (Costs Fatigue, 1 FP, -10%) [18], Chummy [-5] and the Racial Skills +2 to Tactics [4] and +1 to Strategy [2]. $110,000. LC2. 69 points Leonidas (+48 Points): The Leonidas is as much a psychological weapon as it is a solider, and often sees use outside of combat, or when in combat, decked out in heavy armor, since their massive height makes them the target of every sniper within 50 miles. The Leonidas towers above the average Spartan at about 9 feet tall, with incredible boosted strength even by the standards of a Spartan. Leonidases are designed to be somewhat attractive and have very commanding voices, with Charisma ingrained in them through clever VR training, although they live short lives, owing to the sheer stress all the strength puts on their metabolism. They typically lead from the front. Adjust ST to ST +8 (SM -10%) [+42] and add SM+1, Appearance (Attractive, Humans Only, -20%) [3], Charisma +2 [4], and Self-Destruct [-10]. $149,000. LC1. 108 points Tianyi-series 51 Points
One of the oldest android types, the Tianyi-series of androids was developed by the Chinese firm Zhejiang Bioscience, a firm that initially specialized in the production of synthetic organs and similar tissue. The Tianyi was is breakthrough that Zhejiang needed and in the process it created a whole new market. The Tianyi first emerged during the late First Interstellar Period, and was used by various companies and corporations as a "social interface" android, fulfilling jobs such as host/hostess, waitstaff, front-desk work, flight attendant, and the like. The model became popular outside of this area as well, given they look like fashion models. The Tianyi series continued to work through the various interstellar period, and spread to the stars along side humanity. As with the Eros android, there were several attempts to reverse engineering reproductivity back into the model once Zhejiang Bioscience went out of business, but those ended when Skinthetic stepped in and bought the license to the model, ending any effort, although there are rumors that the teams were successful. Since the Ascension Crisis and well into the modern era, the android continues to fill work in the original capacity that it was devised for - and beyond. The model below is called the Di Yi; there are more advanced models. Models: Tianyi Cybercore (+4 points): A small cottage industry has grown up around offering the Tianyi as a cybercore. They're a popular choice for certain groups of digitals and AGIs who want to continue their existence in an attractive body. Delete Android Body [+4] and add Cybercore [+0]. $95,000. LC3. 55 points. Tianyi "Di Er" (+20 points): The Di Er is a model that dates back to the last Concordance Era, and was developed by a branch of Zhejiang Bioscience on Yellowstone called Tsumetai Ishi Biomedical. The Di Er can function well in cold temperatures, featuring modifications similar to the Hazer genotype, and similarly, has increased strength as a result of those same modifications. Add ST +1 [10] and Temperature Tolerance 10 [10]. $111,000. LC3. 81 points Tianyi "Di San" (+7 Points): The Di San is a more recent model that is designed post Ascension Crisis, that is creative enough to fill a number of different roles within a service sector business and is often responsible for managing multiple jobs at a time. They require less sleep and are known for being highly creative. Increase to Less Sleep 4 [8] and add Versatile [5]. $98,000. LC3. 58 points Tianyi "Shequ" (+18 Points): The Shequ was designed by Neidan-Xiao Chu in their ongoing bid to outpace Banu Musa in the Umma. While the Umma doesn't allow any androids that are designed in the human image (believing such things to be blasphemous), the wealthy elites have long been fine flouting the rules that bind the poorer more religious classes of people, and so the Shequ often appears in the homes of the wealthy elite. They have excellent memories and memory recall, require less sleep, and are highly resistant to poison. They are also taught to dress in a manner appropriate to their work environment. Improve to Less Sleep 3 [6] and add Dress Code (Conservative Near Eastern) [-1], Photographic Memory [10], Resistant to Poison (+8) [7]. $109,000. LC3. 69 points Xinren Parahuman 33 Points Rumors about the ability to reverse engineer reproductivity back into the Tianyi are correct, and there's a widespread parahuman subspecies that exists to this day modeled after the original Tianyi (today called the Tianyi Jiben; the model was discontinued almost a century ago). Named Xinren (it means New Human in Mandarin), many believe that they were genetically engineered like any other parahuman subspecies and not that they were backwards engineered from an android model line that has long since been discontinued. Naturally, this produced some issues with the genome, including an inability to process food that wasn't especially designed for their genotype. Despite this, the Xinren is one of the more common genotypes on Shangtao, and is spreading to Bluefall, as well. Attribute Modifiers: HT+2 [20]. Advantages: Fit [5]; Very Handsome/Beautiful (Humans Only, -20%) [13]; Less Sleep 2 [4]; High Manual Dexterity 1 [5]; Resistant to Disease (+8) [5]; Sensitive [5]; Voice [10]. Perks: Deep Sleeper; No Hangover; Sanitized Metabolism [3]. Disadvantages: Chummy [-5]; Restricted Diet (Specialized Nutrients, Common) [-20], Unusual Biochemistry [-5]; Xenophilia (15) [-5]. Quirks: Attentive; Devoted to the Job [-2]. Features: Phenotype (East Asian); Taboo Trait (Mental Instability, Unattractiveness). Availability: $107,000. LC3. Tianyi-series (Bluefall Variant)
68 Points Also called the Lan Se variant, the Bluefall Variant of the Tianyi-series is an attempt by the hypercorp Skinthetic to get their androids in on the ground level of the rapidly growing Bluefall market before anyone else. However, Bluefall tends to have very different laws concerning androids, especially intelligent ones, and so such Tianyi are seen as full-fledged people rather than property. This didn't bother Skinthetic, who use their Tianyi on Bluefall as another vehicle to market biosculpting treatments. They introduced the model roughly 13 local years ago because their markets expected that the rise of Shangtao would mark an rebirth of interest in the East Asian Phenotype. Executives paid billions by the hour decided that this was absolutely the case with zero evidence, so they sunk an untold fortune into androids that they would have no functional control over, and then released them as advertisements for Skinthetic's upcoming biosculpting menu - only for the company to be blindsided when the Egyptian Revival exploded on the scene and the popular phenotype became an Arabic/North African phenotype. The company fired its entire market analysis department as a result and lost trillions on the gamble. To add extra insult to injury, a number of the Tianyi, who as humans had human rights on Bluefall, underwent biosculpting to adopt the popular phenotype and there was nothing Skinthetic could do. Despite the entire debacle being classed as a disaster by Skinthetic and effectively forcing them to shut the door on the Bluefall market, the android has done reasonably well otherwise. They filled a valuable niche that Bluefall lacked - service workers - and their acculturation training has helped them fit in very well, although some natives note that they are sometimes too eager to show themselves off and sometimes strip naked at the drop of a hat or dislike wearing clothing entirely. Attribute Modifiers: HT+2 [20]. Advantages: Basic Biomods [9]; Doesn't Breathe (Oxygen Storage, x25, -50%) [10]; Fit [5]; Less Sleep 2 [4]; Immunity to Disease [10]; Sensitive [5]; Very Handsome/Beautiful (Humans only, -20%) [13]; Voice [10]; and one 5-point talent [5]. Perks: Deep Sleeper; No Hangover; Sanitized Metabolism [3]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; Chummy [-5]; Workaholic [-5]; Xenophilia (15) [-5]. Quirks: Attentive; Shocking Affectation (Social nudist) [-1]. Features: Taboo Trait (Mental Instability, Unattractiveness). Availability: $91,000. LC3. Void Flyer-series 47 Points
Void Flyers are an exotic design by Kosmoszavet, and is capable of surviving unprotected in space for up to an hour or more. The design appeared into Le Belle Epoque and was common place around most major space ports, where Kosmoszavet and the company that would later be known as VoidCorp worked out of. When Kosmozavet went bankrupt rights to the model should have fallen into VoidCorp's hands, but instead they were bought up by Skinthetic, a design house and pioneer in biosculpting and genetic engineering. Skinthetic remains the sold holder of the model line today, although a number of institutions owned by VoidCorp are allowed to make the standard version of the Void Flyer by a grandfather clause in the contract. Modern Void Flyers are highly attractive and feature long hair with jet black skin. Their radical dermatological modifications, when combined with a number of other features, ensure that they are capable of surviving without support in the vacuum for up to an hour or more. Their long hair is designed to operate like a radiator, while their overall design is thin and elfin in appearance. Skinthetic goes through a great deal to make their Void Flyers look attractive, since they use the model less for void flying and more as advertisements for future biosculpting treatments that they hope to make popular. Like Bouncers, Void Flyers have prehensile feet, giving them another set of hands. While many InVid show them operating naked in the void, this is often just a show owing to Skinthetic clauses; since they're often involved in engineering, they prefer things with pockets and places to hold their gear. The model below represents the standard Void Flyer, the Mk 1M. Attribute Modifiers: ST-1 [-10]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: HP-1 [-2]. Advantages: 3D Spatial Sense [10]; Basic Biomods [19]; DR 1 (Tough Skin, -40%) [3]; Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x50, -40%) [12]; Extra Arms 2 (Foot Manipulators, -30%; Short, -50%) [4]; Handsome/Beautiful (Off-the-Shelf Looks, -50%; Humans only, -20%) [5]; Nictitating Membrane 1 [1]; Radiation Tolerance 5 [10]; Temperature Tolerance 10 [10]; Vacuum Support [5]. Disadvantages: Android Body [-4]; G-Intolerance (0.05 G increment) [-20]. Racial Skills: Free Fall (A) DX+1 [4]. Features: Home gravity of 0 G; Taboo Traits (Mental Instability); Vacuum-adapted physiology (Smooth, jet black skin; long hair that acts as a heat radiator). Availability: $98,000. LC3 Models Void Flyer, Mk 1V (-19 Points): The original Void Flyer that Kosmoszavet pioneered. Skinthetic doesn't produce this model anymore and hasn't since Kosmoszavet went under, but due to grandfather clauses in the contract, VoidCorp still does in a few places around the Verge and Bleed. The model is inferior to the Mk 2V in a number of ways, including oxygen storage and a lack of Biomods naturally, but is noted for being hardier than the Mk 2V. VoidCorp often employs them working together with the Clark-series and the Sesheyan, and always provides them with the same snappy uniforms that all VoidCorp employees wear while on the job. Delete Basic Biomods [-19], HP-1 [+2], and reduce Doesn't Breathe (Oxygen Storage) to x25, reducing the price by [-2]. Not that VoidCorp installs Basic Biomods anyway, but they aren't allowed to produce the model with the mods installed. $88,000. LC2. 30 points. Void Flyer, Mk 2M (+5 Points): The Mark 2M features a number of subtle glandular and joint modifications to the original model, boosting confidence while allowing them to make better use of their prehensile feet, while increasing overall manual dexterity significantly. Add Flexibility [5], High Manual Dexterity 1 [5], and Overconfidence (12) [-5]. $103,000. LC3. 52 points Void Flyer, Mk 3M (+10 Points): The Mark 3M is designed to be an actual flyer, and comes with a built in vector thruster that allows them to navigate in microgravity, and ensures that they don't need to use unbiblical cords to keep them anchored to the exterior of a ship or one of the construction hubs. They are clearly influenced by the Salamander, and are one of the newer variants of the Void Flyer, produced within the last decade. Add Flight (Newtonian Space Flight, +25%; Space Flight Only, -75%) [10]. $108,000. LC3. 57 points. Void Soldier (+25 Points): This is a joint effort by the Regency, working through the local company BlueGenomics, and Skinthetic to produce a peacekeeping variant of the Void Flyer that can patrol the space ports and ensure that rules are being followed and make sure that nobody is planning any sort of attacks from the outside of the space station or spacecraft that they patrol. Add Combat Reflexes [15] and High Pain Threshold [10]. $123,000. LC3. 72 points Xenocop
112 Points The Xenocop android design is intended for law enforcement and security work, and was first engineered by a coordinated effort of Phalanx-Gorgon and Skinthetic, and as a design, the android has a flare that is typical for Skinthetic; Phalanx-Gorgon could have cared less if their android model would look good in a lingerie shoot, but Skinthetic did care, and the result is a combat android that is highly human, highly attractive, and highly efficient. The core design of the android is one built for speed and to be capable, but that can also inspire trust in the humans that it works with. Xenocops are alert, tough, and fast, and capable of running down most suspects in short order. There are rumors of a variant of the genotype Xenocop that is capable of self-replication owing to Skinthetic's notoriously poor handling of genetic information for this project (one of the reasons why this was the last project that Phalanx-Gorgon did with them), although information on that is rare and it's likely just a rumor. Attribute Modifiers: DX+1 [20]; IQ+1 [20]. Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: Per+2 [10]; FP+3 [9]; Basic Speed+1.00 [20].
