Bouncerbiomorph [Genotype, econiche]The Bouncer as a genotype emerged from an older family of genotypes called the tennin. These genotypes were all microgravity-adapted humans, but they didn't go as far as the Bouncer did with its alterations. As a genotype, the Bouncer emerged at roughly the same time as the Tennin III, and it has been competing with the Tennin for a pace among spacers ever since.
Humans are not naturally adapted to microgravity; there are a number of problems that go beyond the commonly known issue of bone and muscle decay, and radiation exposure. Much of the human circulatory system, fluid cycling systems, and waste disposal systems all developed to make the most use of gravity - which doesn't exist in microgravity. This made everything from seeing properly (due to fluid retention in the face) to using the bathroom (due to a lack of gravity, since both urine and fecal matter make gravity-assisted exits from the body). There's also the issue of blood circulation as well, since the heart was similarly evolved to capitalize on gravity. In order to make a human being that was truly at home in microgravity, engineers had to overcome all of these problems. And while there are android variants that have overcome these issues, the Bouncer and the latter issue Tennins come the closest to being fully adapted for microgravity - and even they aren't ideally suited for it. Bouncers have redesigned hearts, GI tracts, and fluid dispersion systems in the body, as well as the morphological change of replacing the feet with a set of prehensile, chimp-like feet that allow them a second set of arms in microgravity. Despite not being fully adapted, the Bouncer is perhaps the most common genotype among Spacers, precisely because many spend their time in microgravity. Interesting Facts

Bouncer variants and family
The Bouncer is one of the oldest of the econiche parahumans, and unsurprisingly, it has an extended family with a number of variations and variants. The Bouncer itself is actually relatively recent as far as genotypes go - probably less than 400 years old - so there are a number of preceding genotypes and variants, as well. And despite being young in terms of major genotypes, there are a large number of variants and offshoots, as well.

The android bouncer is a less common but more generic android variant of the Bouncer; they are often overshadowed by the Clark-4 Vacc Worker, which is technically an android variant of the Bouncer that is usually considered superior to the baseline version. Add Basic Biomods [30] and Android Body [-4]. 70 points.
The Bouncer II is an improved version of the Bouncer, featuring more ideal parahuman traits; it's been around for about 30 years (Bluefall standard), and so the first generations are just coming around. It's designed to compete with the Tennin II and III (see below), a comparable genotype. Add IQ +1 [20], Rapid Healing [5], and Versatile [5]. 74 points. A cybercore variant of the bouncer that is sometimes used by spacers who want a physical body; it's not as common as those digital spacers using a cybernetic body, however. Add Basic Biomods [30], Bioshell Body [9]; and Cortical Stack [6], 87 points. The Hyperbright (also called the Bouncer III) is a variant of the bouncer that seeks to improve the overall intelligence of the bouncer by combining it with similar features to the Pandora, with worse results given the crapshoot that improving intelligence usually is. While certainly one of the most intelligent of the variants, the Hyperbright is also one of the least stable, which has the unfortunately side effect of linking high intelligence with mental instability for individuals who don't know better or have never met a Metanoia. An near android variant is the Sage, listed below.. The Vacuum Pod is specific type of pod that is produced by applying the Pod template to the Bouncer genotype. while they're functionally Bouncer Pods, they are common enough that they have their own unique name (and are often mistakenly assumed to be descended from Basic Pods, which they are not). Perhaps even more so than other pods, Vacuum Pods tend to suffer from cookie-cutter looks. Clark-1 Vac Worker [Android] |
15 Points |
The Clark-1 Vac Worker is one of the most famous vacuum-adapted androids in existence and they are closely associated with VoidCorp, the company that owns the rights to the genotype. They resemble a traditional Tennin (which is the genotype that they are technically based on), but are engineered to handle brief exposures to the vacuum. All of them are equipped with in-built communicators that are grown into their bodies as they are designed and constructed. The genotype features pale, hairless skin that can change its color based on the lighting level, although they often have tattoos on their bodies that are religious in nature; they are one of the rare genotypes that forms a full clade, similar to Clade Labella.

Kumo [Genotype] |
17 points |
The Kumo is radical variant of the Tennin (not the Bouncer) that was recently introduced a few decades ago (Bluefall time). As a result, the genotype is still within its first few generations, but given the relatively conservative nature of the changes (compared to some other changes), the genotype has already proven to be fairly reliable. Where the Bouncer and Tennin can operate in microgravity, the Kumo is a design that can live and operate with zero-G. To achieve this, there are a number of modifications that are made internally, but the most immediately obvious gross physiological modification is replacing the legs with a second set of arms, as opposed to altering the feet so they can be prehensile. However, this modification makes it very difficult for them to survive within a gravity well, which is the trade off to being specialized for microgravity.

Sage [Android] |
74 points |
The Sage was the first attempt by the subculture of Ilmarinen to try and produce an intelligent subspecies of humanity - in this case, a super-intelligent android. To achieve this goal, engineers had to tinker with the neurochemistry of the brain, and began by augmenting the intelligence of a typical Bouncer-derived android. However, engineers in the autonomous collective sorely underestimated how hard it would be to engineer a super-intelligent android; since the brain structures of an android are fast-growing, and knock-on effects manifest much earlier and lead to cascading failures before engineers have a chance to fully adapt, few companies have ever made the attempt. The autonomists of Ilmarinen aren't the first, but the Sage is the most successful.
Outwardly the Sage resembles a typical bouncer, although they are always bald and they have slight, slender fingers and high foreheads; often they have blue or green skin with colorful designs on them to distinguish them. Unlike most instances where individuals have tried to increase intelligence in androids the Sage seems remarkably well-balanced (especially considering how the Hypberbright turned out), but they have problems of their own. They tend to be highly impulsive and don't think things through, and their overall physiology is weak and they tend to have poor health eve after accounting for basic biomods. Despite this, they took some mental modifications better than the Hyperbright did, with much better memories, although their brain and their mouths don't necessarily synch up, which leads to distinctive, repetitious speech patterns that resemble palilalia (repeating the same thing they said previously several times).

Salamander [Android] |
74 points |
One of the most extreme android types to appear in recent decades, the Salamander-series is designed by NanoSynBio. The Salamander is designed to operate not only in microgravity conditions, but also in solar corona conditions. While not remotely optimized for such conditions, the Salamander can do short stints exposed to the corona, making it useful for solar habitation. While NanoSynBio claims that they designed the genotype from scratch, there is some indication that the God AIs were behind the original design and that NanoSynBio has adapted the basic android genotype for their own ends.
The Salamander can pull this trick off because of an internal superconductor loop that, when active, creates a magnetic field around the Salamander. This field absorbs a high amount of radiation and protects the Salamander from small amounts of solar plasma - although a direct hit from even a weak solar flare will fry any Salamander unfortunate enough to be caught outside and a full-on CME will likely leave nothing, not even ashes. While the field is active they are effectively in a self-produced Faraday cage, protected from solar charged particles. They store oxygen in their blood and liver like most vacuum workers do, and their feet have been modified into additional hands. Salamanders are particularly common in coronal habitats, but they can function outside of them. One of the most interesting features about this android type, aside from the extreme coronal adaptations, is the polykeratin vacuum adaptation; this is a relatively new advancement by several biomedical firms, and it allows the Salamander turn their face into a mouthless, noseless helmet, while all of the other external orifices close, as well, effectively sealing them off from space. They can undo this as they wish. They also feature in-built thrusters, so they can jet around in space as they wish. Despite what their designed for, the engineers outstripped their design chops a bit with this series. Not only does it require specialized exotic nutrients to subsist, it cannot see in the dark (which the engineers never even knew was a problem until one left the coronal environment aboard a ship and discovered they couldn't see), and they require weekly maintenance to replace or regrow damaged tissue caused by the presence of the superconducting loop. What's more, their nervous system is a bit strong and they have high degree of sensitivity, which results in them having a very low tolerance for pain. Both the Mk 0 and the Mk 1 have a tiny container of air that allows them jet around, but they can't get any appreciable velocity out of it, so they can only use to move around outside of habitats. |

Salamander Mk 0 (-14 Points): The template above is for the Salamander-series Mark 1, but there was a prototype. The Mark Zero wasn't designed purely with coronal habitats in mind, and it lacks the super-conducting loop, so it can't remotely survive in plasma fields. However, it does still have the impressive tolerance for heat, along with fewer problems than the Mark 1 in the series has, which makes it a popular model for some Spacer crews. Tennin [Genotype] |
27 points |
The Tennin is, in many ways, a proto-Bouncer, although it's not correct to think of them as such. The Bouncer evolved from the modifications present in the Tennin, but the Bouncer and the Tennin took different routes. This is template represents the Tennin I variant that is popular throughout the Verge and Bleed; a relatively common standby that competes with the Bouncer for conceptual space within the space framework, but otherwise isn't too different from a conventional genetic upgrade. The major differences from a conventional genetic upgrade and what sets it apart is the modification to the legs and the high level of tolerance for radiation, the latter of which requires extensive cellular modification. In terms of overall popularity, the Bouncer still appears to be more popular than the Tennin, although this has varied with the age and many Tennin get somatic modifications that make them hard to tell apart from Bouncers.

Void Flyer [Android] |
63 Points |
Void Flyers are an exotic design by Kosmoszavet, and is capable of surviving unprotected in space for up to an hour or more. The design appeared into Le Belle Epoque and was common place around most major space ports, where Kosmoszavet and the company that would later be known as VoidCorp worked out of. When Kosmozavet went bankrupt rights to the model should have fallen into VoidCorp's hands, but instead they were bought up by Skinthetic, a design house and pioneer in biosculpting and genetic engineering. Skinthetic remains the sold holder of the model line today, although a number of institutions owned by VoidCorp are allowed to make the standard version of the Void Flyer by a grandfather clause in the contract.
Modern Void Flyers are highly attractive and feature long hair with jet black skin. Their radical dermatological modifications, when combined with a number of other features, ensure that they are capable of surviving without support in the vacuum for up to an hour or more. Their long hair is designed to operate like a radiator, while their overall design is thin and elfin in appearance. Skinthetic goes through a great deal to make their Void Flyers look attractive, since they use the model less for void flying and more as advertisements for future biosculpting treatments that they hope to make popular. Like Bouncers, Void Flyers have prehensile feet, giving them another set of hands. While many InVid show them operating naked in the void, this is often just a show owing to Skinthetic clauses; since they're often involved in engineering, they prefer things with pockets and places to hold their gear.
The model below represents the standard Void Flyer, the Mk 1M.
