GalateaCybershell [Anthropomorphic]The Galatea is a high end cybershell that was developed to demonstrate the beauty and elegance of cybershells to a highly bio-chauvinistic population. It's a product of the Utopian Era and of Utopian Engineering, and showcases how attractive and versatile that they are capable of being. Since the first Galatea rolled out of the fabricator, there have be dozens of different, fashionable models, each one tailored to the population that they are engineered for, but all of them share the a similar elegant look and a social-situation friendly design. While there are numerous designs, the "archetypal" Galatea is the Kandi-series Maria, which is arguably one of the best Galatea lines in the entire Verge and Bleed, produced by Cyberskin, a subsidiary of Skinthetic. These shells have gone in and out of style, but were recently revived in StarMech.
The Galatea tends to feature high-end neural architecture for the cyberbrain, and the neural shell coding is often among some of the best that one finds in a cybershell, outside of military cybershells. The specific intent with the neural shell coding is to boost the Galatea's ability to both read body language and emote properly, meaning that humans and non-humans have a much easier time reading their body language. They often feature a projected face or a stylized face that is capable of emoting very effectively and that often tests well with focus groups, so it dodges certain pitfalls (like the Uncanny Valley). The surface of these cybershells is designed to project video displays, so they can constantly change their coloration, while the overall design is intended to evoke feelings of haute fashion, albeit in a neutral way. Finally, they feature slightly longer than average fingers, which have a great deal more dexterity and flexibility than conventional hands do. Often times, engineers will incorporate perfume dispersers as well, so that the shell has a nice smell to it, although the Maria line doesn't feature such modifications and instead relies on neutral smelling materials to give a clean, fresh, and crisp smell. Like most cybershells, they are sealed and vacuum supported, which means they can function in a vacuum. Interesting Facts
