KourosBiomorph [Genotype, Ideal Parahuman]The Kouros emerged at some point in the Interplanetary Era, and is a very advanced genotype for that era. Likely developed somewhere in the belt, the Kouros was part of the ongoing conflict over gender and sexuality that shaped some aspects of human civilization within the solar system at the time (the same struggles eventually lead to the two variants of the Exalt, the Avatar and the Diana, but the Kouros is something altogether different). Specifically, the Kouros arises out of the "Agender" movement - that is, those who surgically removed any evidence of sexuality and their sex organs, and genetically engineered their children so they would not have any sexuality. The "Agender" movement eventually faded away - but it didn't disappear, because the Greys are technically one of the last surviving remnants - as different gender and sexual schema became the norm for much of civilization. However, the Kouros' designers had something else in mind.
The Kouros is a truly remarkable design for its time, mostly because the Kouros is a sequential hermaphrodite - it is capable of being male, female, and occupying an intermediary state. They can fulfill any role in reproduction and, indeed, can reproduce by themselves. Another major feature is their physical appearance, which deviates strongly from the baseline male and female norms, giving them a highly asexual and androgynous appearance. The result is sometimes considered disturbing to non-Kouros. Kouros also feature alterations to their brains that make them talented linguists and very creative, although they have the unfortunate side effect of seizing up in combat, due to difficulties with the glandular modifications that enable their sequential hermaphroditism.
