SplicerBiomorph [Genotype, Ideal Parahuman]The Splicer is one of the oldest parahuman genotypes. It emerged early on in the middle Interplanetary or late Interplanetary period as a variant of the Alpha genotype, which was a genetic upgrade that emerged earlier in the period. The Splicer was the stepping stone that the Exalt emerged from, although few realize how closely the two emerged to one another, with the Olympian emerging shortly after that. However, where the Exalt was arguably a better but more complicated genotype, the Splicer was less complicated and as a result, more reliable early on, and so it caught on much more quickly. This gave it a leg up beyond the other two, and like the Alpha, it was quickly spread to the stars during the Interstellar Period, with the first wave of colonization. It's since remained practically the default for much of the Verge and Bleed.
The Splicer - also sometimes called the Alpha, although the Alpha is technically a separate genotype that is related - features relatively few species alterations and transgenic alterations, mostly aimed towards boosting longevity, intelligence, overall athleticism, and tweaks to the GI tract. They are sometimes referred to as a "partial parahuman" since they can technically interbreed with baseline humans, although this happens with more difficulty than a conventional baseline/baseline or baseline/genetic upgrade pairing. Among other alterations include alterations to the cellular biochemistry and copying process and the removal of the appendix, further removing them from baseline humanity. Interesting Facts
